Fur the ‘More is a private, membership-only event. First and foremost we are committed to the safety and security of our members. This is a private event and the convention reserves the right to deny admission to any person at any time.
Our attendees have over the years become very cautious of anyone who is presenting themselves as a member of the press. In order to find a good fit between our members concerns, and the interests of the press and media, we will attempt to meet both with our Press Pass policy. You should be aware that if your media outlet plans to do a “Hey, look at the freaks” type story, that you should not bother to apply for a pass.
Our convention is willing to give interviews and requests for information to duly authorized agents of the press and media prior to the convention, and we will have press memberships available to those who can prove that they are employed by a reputable broadcast, print, or internet media organization. Press applications must be completed prior to March 15th as we will be too busy after that date to do the necessary checking. Press passes will NOT be granted without prior arrangements with us. As such, if you arrive at our convention without arrangements, you will be denied admission and escorted out of convention spaces by our access control staff. You and your organization will also be banned from any future Fur the ‘More events. We would MUCH prefer not to do this.
When applying for a Press Membership you will need to give us the following information
- Your name and full contact information (address, telephone, and email. Telephone should be a direct to you line, not a recorded line)
- Full contact information for your editor and publication.
- The nature of the story you are putting together.
- What type of information and media you will be gathering at our events.
Once you are granted a press membership, you will be able to pick it up at our pre-registration desk at any point during the convention. You *MUST* do this prior to any media -related activities are conducted. Failure to do so, or attempting to circumvent these processes by purchasing any other level of badge, will result in immediate membership revocation without refund, escort from our event by our access control staff, and yourself and your organization banned from future Fur the ‘More events. Again, we would MUCH prefer not do do this, so please work with us.
To claim your Press Membership, you will need to have the following:
- Two Business cards
- A government issued picture ID
- A letter on your organizations letterhead stating the nature of your story, and including contact information for your assignment editor should we need to validate your credentials before issuing you a pass.
There are a few concessions that will apply to your membership. When you check in you will be given a list of events you will be permitted to attend. You will not be permitted to attend any events in the course of your assignment that are not on the list. This includes photographing, videography, and audio recording.
You are required at all times you are on the convention floor to carry your government issued ID and business cards. Our staff can ask to see these at any time, and they must be presented.
You are permitted to conduct interviews and our staff can upon request provide you with a quiet area to conduct them. However you must indicate the possibility of needing this in your press application. We cannot guarantee an area if you have not arranged it with us ahead of time.
You will be escorted by a member of our Media Relations Department at all times while attending the convention in the course of your assignment, work, or at any time you are representing your organization. Attendees are encouraged to report to our Rangers anyone not displaying a proper badge, or being accompanied by a staff member.
You will not be permitted to intimidate, harass, or otherwise force anyone who does not wish to be interviewed or photographed to do something against their will. If someone says any variation of “No”, “go away”, “I do not consent”, or in any other form verbal or nonverbal indicates that they do not wish to be interviewed or photographed, you are required to respect their wishes.
You may not, under any circumstances share your press badge with any other person. It is issued to you and you alone.
You may not at any time utilize any hidden cameras, microphones or other devices. You may not attempt to conceal any audiovisual recording device.
The name “Fur the ‘More” and the Fur the ‘More logo are service marks of NorthEast Anthropomorphic Association, Inc., and must not be used in any fashion that disparages or dilutes that mark. Members agree to remove from circulation or publication any image or recording that in the sole opinion of NorthEast Anthropomorphic Association, Inc. misrepresents or defames its service mark.
Failure to comply with any of these concessions will be grounds for immediate revocation of your press pass, and any other badges purchased or otherwise, and you being escorted out by our Rangers.
Please note that all attendees purchasing a membership are required to sign and abide by our attendee policies while at the convention. A portion of these policies reads:
Attendees bearing a membership not specifically designated as a ‘Press Membership’ agree not to act as agents of any media organization in any way, shape, or form while attending Fur the ‘More. This includes, but is not limited to: interviewing, photography, and audiovisual recording.”
Please respect the privacy of our attendees. Many of them are juveniles and young adults and lack the experience of talking to the media. We would greatly appreciate your cooperation in not exploiting this.
We are more than happy to let you into our private event at the risk of damaging ourselves, and our reputation. All we ask of you is to play by our rules and get the whole story while your here == Not just what will get the ratings.
